Job Title: Service Technician - Fountain/Vending/Coffee

Department: Service/Operations

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Service Technician serves in a variety of capacities to include resolving the most difficult as well as routine repairs, performs installation work for vending, coffee equipment and soda equipment. The Service Technician is relied upon for having intricate knowledge of all equipment and related problems. This knowledge is utilized not only for actual repair but for troubleshooting and diagnosing problems situations. In the delivery of these services to customers and other service technicians, it is essential that interpersonal skills and abilities accompany the technical aspects of the work. Establishing and maintaining good relationships and working as part of team are important ingredients for success in the position.

Essential duties and responsibilities which include but are not limited to the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Respond to service calls as required of receipt of the call.

 

  • Maintain quality of service work at 100%--do it right the first time.

 

  • Install beverage equipment in customer locations. Set up machine for operation may include programming, loading, completing billing associated with the piece of equipment. Train the customer on equipment used and maintenance requirements prior to leaving. Advise them of the how-to's for operating the equipment.

 

  • Install soda/coffee systems, in customer locations, along with supporting plumbing and electrical requirements according to established layout. Run the tubing in accordance with established configurations. Set gas and water pressures. Mix syrup and water in accordance with established ratios.  Install drains. Confer with customers to insure that installation meets their needs. Test equipment to make sure it's working properly. Train the customer in proper soda/coffee system procedures and equipment operation.

 

  • Be aware and knowledgeable of Wisconsin State Code requirements in relation to Pepsi NEW equipment and system installs. Apprise customer and manager of any areas of concern. 

 

  • Completes site surveys on prospective customers to determine scope of install projects.

 

  • Diagnose problems and recommend repair solutions. Remove equipment from customer location for repair.  Replace with new equipment as needed.  Execute, repairs on all electrical, computer, mechanical, plumbing issues.

 

  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment including regular cleaning of equipment.

 

  • Initiate bills for product used in equipment and/or system start-ups. Double check that the proper serial numbers are recorded on lease agreements for entering into the computer system.

 

  • Record service call time to be used for invoicing customers. Include all parts and equipment for the job.

 

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work area and vehicle.

 

  • Participate in an "on call" service rotation within department including nights, weekends and holidays.

 

  • Willingness to assist in other departments as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • High school education, GED or equivalent is required.  DIRHR Refrigeration Certification preferred.

 

  • In depth knowledge of the principals associated with electrical, electronic, and plumbing work.

 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude desired. Skills in diagnosing and troubleshooting by phone and in person.

 

  • Strong customer service skills are needed to deal sensitively with customers who have malfunctioning equipment.

 

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills in relating to co-workers and others in order to maintain good working relationships.

 

  • A strong work ethic with a desired to provide exceptional customer service.

 

  • Effectiveness in leading, guiding and coaching others.

 

  • A valid Wisconsin driver's license, a good driving record and a keen sense for safety and good driving practices.

 

  • Ability to perform the "Physical and Environmental Demands" of the job as noted on the checklist.
