Job Title:  Merchandising Supervisor                                             

Department:  Operations

                                                                      

GENERAL SUMMARY:   

The Merchandising Supervisor (MS) is responsible for working directly with merchandisers ensuring that Pepsi NEW's merchandising priorities are being followed. This close interaction will include initial training for new employees, periodic refresher training for existing employees, one-on-one coaching and conduct employee evaluation discussions based on work-with observations. The Merchandising Supervisor position is responsible to consistently improve Pepsi NEW's stance in the market through efficient scheduling and improving the capabilities of our merchandising team.

                          

RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Essential duties and responsibilities which include but are not limited to the following:

  • Initial and ongoing training of new hires in accordance to Pepsi NEW's onboarding training schedule.
  • Train and ensure employees are proficient in Pepsi NEW procedures (P.R.E.M.I.E.R.) through one on one coaching.
  • Plan, schedule, communicate and ensure execution of Pepsi NEWs daily merchandising efforts through while paying close attention to delivery and store volume trends.
  • Observe and evaluate performance and safe working habits during daily activities. Ensures all Pepsi NEW, and OSHA guidelines are adhered to. Responsible for recording observations, provide route ride recap, and expectations for subsequent route rides.
  • Develop the skills and capabilities of Pepsi NEW employees and operations. Create, execute and track performance improvement plans and/or discipline substandard performers as needed.  
  • Work with Key Account Managers (KAM) and Sales Reps on weekly execution of promotions within bulk serviced accounts. Communicate expectations to merchandisers and recap results with management when appropriate.
  • Continuously strive for better product placement within accounts, while ensuring Pepsi Merchandising standards are executed at all times.
  • Keep an open line of communication between all departments on bulk activities. Monitor completion of tasks assigned by Pepsi NEW Leadership. 
  • Maintain working relationships with key leaders within assigned accounts regarding daily delivery, merchandising and sales operations. Manage account expectations and schedule according to volume demands.
  • Participate in on call rotation for support for customer and employee needs over the weekend and holidays. Occasional weekend observations to be made within marketplace to ensure execution of merchandising efforts.
  • Perform other projects assigned by Manager.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business related field required. Experience in management or beverage industry in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Experience in the beverage distribution business and within large format retail accounts is highly desired.
  • A minimum of two to three years previous leadership experience managing frontline employees is preferred.
  • Ability to be available for frontline employees during off hours; including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills, the ability to set priorities and the ability to effectively schedule time and meet deadlines are required. Must be detail orientated to ensure proper procedures/documents are completed timely and correctly.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills in relating to direct reports, peers customers, and others in order to maintain good working relationships.
  • A strong work ethic with a desire to exceed expectations and demonstrate self-motivation. Ability to work through situations in a mature and logical manner.
  • Analytical skills necessary to evaluate account information and to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Previous experience utilizing Microsoft programs, with intermediate to advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills.
  • Ability to perform the "Physical and Environmental Demands" of the job as noted on the checklist.
