Job Title:          Director of Sales

 GENERAL SUMMARY:           

The Director of Sales is responsible for the direction of the entire sales function for Pepsi NEW.  This role will develop, communicate, coordinate and ensure execution of sales and pricing strategies. It acts as a liaison between suppliers and Pepsi NEW with regards to funding and marketing strategy elements and how those elements get executed in the local franchise. Most importantly, this position understands the complexity of the marketplace and reacts to the needs of its ever-changing customer, consumer and regulatory landscape. 

 This position coordinates with various Pepsi NEW leaders to ensure execution of sales priorities.  The Senior Sales Manager and Sales Supervisor both report to this position and the Director of Sales will work through them to facilitate best in class execution in the marketplace.                                                                             

 RESPONSIBLITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Develop annual pricing and sales strategies to achieve company profitability goals. Monitors the success of pricing actions and adjusts to achieve results consistent with set goals.
  • Monitor and maintain Pepsi NEWs share leadership and standing as the premiere DSD beverage supplier in the marketplace. Report against Share and BDI changes regularly to drive a sense of urgency against those measures. Network with regional Pepsi leaders to share best practices and apply appropriate learning's to Pepsi NEWs marketplace.
  • Remain current with regard to customer and consumer insights through attendance of meetings and or sitting on insight calls. Educate Pepsi NEW on relevant content and align sales direction with those insights.
  • Develop account specific plans (ASPs) within the franchise territory to maximize local execution of Pepsi Marketing initiatives.
  • Participate in the management of national account JACT teams to insure consistent application of sales initiatives across the marketplace to achieve an even playing field for customers.
  • Wire with influential customers at multiple levels to achieve win/win relationships and insure Pepsi NEW's sales priorities are effectively being executed.
  • Support selling in of key programs internally and externally, develop a sense of urgency with employees and customers regarding Pepsi NEWs priorities.
  • Work with CFO on administering PepsiCo's funding applications. Report on its utilization and effectiveness regularly.
  • Work with CFO on accounting for all of Pepsi NEWs discounting and marketing spends within the marketplace. Report on the effectiveness and monitor dead net price with all major accounts and for the company as a whole.
  • Lead RFP process with all customers who require them, ensure we are adhering to those contract details and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Along with company leadership determine which products and product lines the Company will distribute. Develop and coordinate launch expectations for new products. Monitor productivity of current products and make adjustments to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Regularly monitor and report against sales performance specifically focusing on key Brands, Packages and Market Types. Note changes or action plans that must be made to achieve sales goals.
  • Direct and manage the Account Manager and Sales Representative teams to ensure execution of sales priorities. Senior Sales manager and Sales Supervisor report directly to this role.
  • Coordinate with local advertising agencies to ensure execution of PepsiCo or Pepsi NEWs advertising needs. Monitor the effectiveness of those actions with regular meetings.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Sales, Marketing or Business Administration or equivalent number of years of experience.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of related leadership/management experience to include hands on day-to-day sales operational experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years industry experience in Consumer Packaged Goods, Food & Beverage, Retail, and/or Grocery is desired.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret market data and marketing trends. Proven experience in developing marketing strategies.
  • Experience with expense management and/or managing a P&L.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience in developing positive relationships with customers and co-workers.
  • Proven leadership capability with a strong track record of leading and influencing a front line sales organization.
  • A strong work ethic is desired to exceed expectations both internally and externally.
  • Advanced computer skills to include the ability to successfully navigate Microsoft Office Products.
  • A valid driver's license, a good driving record and good driving practices.

Reports to General Manager

Indirect reporting to President
