Job Title:  Sales Supervisor    

Department:  Sales                                                    

GENERAL SUMMARY:           

The Sales Supervisor works with Pre Sale Reps and Bulk Coordinators ensuring that Pepsi NEW's sales priorities are being executed. This close interaction will include initial training for new employees, periodic refresher training for existing employees, one-on-one coaching to continually improve the employee's skill set, and conduct employee evaluation discussions based on work-with observations. Account level responsibilities will include communication of store level expectations and ensuring adequate execution of weekly ads or priorities as assigned by account managers. The Sales Supervisor will also be involved in the transition of conventional sales routes to 2p and 3p selling solutions as requested by the Distribution Operations Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Initial and ongoing training of new hires in accordance to Pepsi NEW's onboarding training schedule.
  • Train and ensure employees are proficient in Pepsi NEW standards and procedures (e.g. P.E.P.S.I., P.R.E.M.I.E.R., Executional Framework) through observation, one on one coaching, and group training.
  • Ensure proper coverage for Pepsi NEWs selling teams by managing day to day functions, insuring orders are submitted on time and direction followed. In times that vacation, injury or other relief coverage is needed, the Sales Supervisor will fill in if necessary.
  • Observe and evaluate performance and safe working habits during daily activities. Ensures all Pepsi NEW Safety rules and regulations, DOT and OSHA guidelines are adhered to. Responsible for recording observations, provide route ride recap, and expectations for subsequent route rides.
  • Develop the skills and capabilities of Pepsi NEW employees and operations. Create, execute and track performance improvement plans and/or discipline substandard performers as needed. Reward, recognize and encourage employees who exceed expectations.
  • Ensure sales tools are provided and updated including maintenance to handheld ordering system, sell sheets, promotional materials and category or industry insights. Work with sales leadership to provide necessary tools as needed.
  • Work with Key Account Managers (KAM) and Sales Reps on the execution of promotions within serviced accounts. Communicate expectations to reps and recap results with Account Managers.
  • Work with Operations Managers to ensure delivery and merchandising needs are adequately scheduled for and meet customer expectations.
  • Monitor promotional schedules, sales trends and company priorities through sales reporting, store visits and marketplace insights.
  • Continuously strive for better product placement within accounts, while ensuring Pepsi Merchandising and Execution standards are adhered to at all times.
  • Assist in account program sells in and execution of agreed upon display activity. Ensure proper promotional signage is utilized at store level at all times and work with sales management to ensure it is readily available.
  • Maintain working relationships with key leaders within assigned accounts regarding sales operations, visit accounts regularly to check up on execution of priorities. Manage account expectations and provide feedback to direct reports, delivery and merchandising supervisors as needed.
  • Participate in on call rotation for support for customer and employee needs over the weekend and holidays. Occasional weekend observations to be made within marketplace to ensure execution of merchandising efforts.
  • Perform other projects assigned by Manager.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required. Additional formal education beyond high school is preferred but not required in the position.
  • Two three years' previous leadership experience preferred. Experience in the beverage distribution business is highly desired.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills, the ability to set priorities and the ability to effectively schedule time and meet deadlines are required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills in relating to direct reports, peers customers, and others in order to maintain good working relationships.
  • A strong work ethic with a desire to exceed expectations both internally and externally. Demonstrated self-motivation and leadership abilities are required.
  • Analytical skills necessary to evaluate account information and to complete projects in a timely manner. Must be detail orientated to ensure proper procedures/documents are completed timely and correctly.
  • A valid driver's license, a good driving record and good driving practices.
  • Previous experience utilizing Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work through situations in a mature and logical manner.
  • Ability to perform the "Physical and Environmental Demands" of the job as noted on the checklist.

 REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

 Reports to Senior Sales Manager
